Innovative biomaterials for the treatment of periodontal disease

چکیده
Periodontitis is a multifactorial disease that involves the destruction of hard and soft tissues surrounding tooth. Routine periodontal treatment includes mechanical debridement (surgical non-surgical) systemic administration antibiotics. In contrast, severe chronic periodontitis aggressive tissue bone resorption, damage usually irreversible. these cases, grafts, delivery growth hormones, guided regeneration can all be used to stimulate regeneration. However, approaches do not result in consistent predictable outcomes. As result, advanced biomaterials have evolved as an adjunctive approach improve clinical performance. These novel are designed either prolong release antibacterial agents or osteogenic molecules, act immunomodulators promote healing. The first half this review briefly summarizes key immune cells their underlying cellular pathways implicated periodontitis. Advanced will highlighted second half. Finally, limitations current experimental design challenges translational science discussed.

Biomaterials for periodontal regeneration
Periodontal disease is characterized by the destruction of periodontal tissues. Various methods of regenerative periodontal therapy, including the use of barrier membranes, bone replacement grafts, growth factors and the combination of these procedures have been investigated. The development of biomaterials for tissue engineering has considerably improved the available treatment options above. ...

Alzheimer's disease (AD) as a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease represents a huge unmet need for treatment. The low efficacy of current treatment methods is not only due to low drug potency but also due to the presence of various obstacles in the delivery routes. One of the main barriers is the blood-brain barrier. The increasing prevalence of AD and the low efficacy of current th...
متن کاملBiomaterials for Periodontal Tissue Regeneration
Periodontal diseases are characterized by alveolar bone absorption and destruction of periodontal ligament and cementum and are the main causes of tooth loss in adults. This series of diseases is harmful to both human oral and body health. Although periodontitis is under control because of the implementation of conventional treatment modalities, regenerating damaged periodontal tissues remains ...
متن کاملTreatment for Periodontal Disease
Periodontal (gum) disease, which is also known as periodontal disease and periodontitis, is a progressive disease which if left untreated may result in tooth loss. Gum disease begins with the inflammation and irritation of the gingival tissues which surround and support the teeth. The cause of this inflammation is the toxins found in plaque, or biofilm, which cause an ongoing bacterial infection.
